Monique Muñiz is a graduate from Cal State Northridge, with a BA in journalism.
She is a transfer student from East Los Angeles College where she received her journalism certificate as well as an AA in liberal arts. While attending ELAC she became the Campus News sports editor during her first year on the paper staff. Her dedication and drive to learn fast and cover sports earned her the Brad Prye sports scholarship her last semester at ELAC.
She held a position as sports editor for the Daily Sundial at CSUN after being awarded outstanding editor as the sports co-editor for one semester. On the Daily Sundial she was the beat writer for the CSUN women's water polo team for two seasons. She covered the CSUN hockey club team games too. Her stories went beyond covering games. She did feature stories on certain players for the men's basketball, water polo and hockey teams.
She held a position as the Marketing Director for the Daily Sundial for a year and half. As Marketing Director she helped grow the social platform for the campus newspaper and its growth in the Northridge community. She did this with promoting contest on the Daily Sundial's Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Ads in print.
She also has a passion for sports photography and worked for Patch.com photographing high school football games as well as CSUN water polo matches and men's basketball games. Her work has been featured on CSUN's athletic department web site gomatadors.com
Monique has held internship with varies sports programs. She was currently with the Alumni Association for the Los Angeles Kings. In her first month she doubled the "likes" on the Alumni Facebook page by creating contest for fans. She updated the FB page daily with all alumni events and photos.
She held an internship with the Big West Conference as a feature writer and photographer in the fall of 2012. While at the internship she blogged for ESPN at the DIRECTV Classic as well as live blogged at the Big West Tournament. In the summer of 2012 she held an internship at Impact Basketball in Los Angeles as a basketball operations assistant.
She interned with Fox Sports West as a production assistant, with the Los Angeles Sparks in the media relations department and with the CSUN athletic media relations department.
